Fall Travel is Southern Indiana, New Harmony as a Destination this Fall

Most of New Harmony's residents are not thinking about traveling here since they live here, but since I own and operate one of the six antique shops here in New Harmony, I am. I am thinking about how I can attract those who are looking for a travel destination, to New Harmony. One reason for writing this blog was to get the word out about our small American town in the Mid-West. We are like so many other small towns, our children are going back to school, the weather is beginning to get cooler and we are enjoying evening walks or golf-cart rides(Only in New Harmony.) September is the month that New Harmony puts on their biggest festival of the year, Kunstfest, which is New Harmony's German Heritage Festival. Although it is definitely not the only good time to visit New Harmony, it is one the festivals you do not want to miss. This year is it happens September 17 & 18, all day, and throughout the town. You will find live music and German Food, a Beer Garden, Horse Drawn Wagon Rides throughout town and "all things Fall" like Antiques, Crafts, and lots of Pumpkins. There will be an area for the kids where they can do crafts and enjoy painting a pumpkin that they can take home. There will be more food that you can imagine and real Apple Butter, cooked on an open fire in a kettle. New Harmony shows its pride in their heritage by having demonstrators of 1860s Arts & Crafts. You will be able to enjoy all the food you can eat and at the same time, you will be helping a worthy cause since most of our food vendors happen to be non-profit organizations giving back to the community through having a booth at Kunstfest.
Fall is only one of the seasons to visit New Harmony, and if you do not like crowds, choose a weekday to visit. You can plan your visit by going on the New Harmony Business Associates website at http://www.newharmony.biz/. This website will also have more information about all our events, lodging and shopping in New Harmony, Indiana.
If you come to visit New Harmony, please stop in Firehouse Antiques at 608 Main Street and say hello and that you found me on my blog! See you soon, in New Harmony.
